PORTSMOUTH — Here’s a roundup of some local news pertaining to veterans:

• The Portsmouth Veterans Honor Roll Committee will hold a bake sale from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, at Clements’ Marketplace to support the Veterans Honor Roll Project. Visitors are invited to stop and purchase some baked goods.

• Newport Navy Choristers will host a “Christmas in Song” concert at St. Lucy’s Church, West Main Road, Middletown, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9.

• Wreaths Across America will be hosted by the Surface Navy Association-Newport Chapter at noon (assemble by 11:30 a.m.) on Saturday, Dec. 17, at The Island Cemetery, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry gravesite. The ceremony will be followed by volunteers helping to place 300-plus wreaths at veterans’ graves.

• A Veterans Job Prep Workshop (Edge 4Vets) will be hosted by the Community College of Rhode Island, 400 East Ave., Warwick, from 1-4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9. • The VFW Post 5390 December meeting has been rescheduled from Dec. 26 to Monday, Dec. 19.
