Barrington woman calls cops about plumber payment problem

Posted

A Lincoln Avenue resident in Barrington called police on Tuesday, March 17 after she encountered a suspicious situation while paying her plumber.

The woman told police that she had hired the man to fix her leaky shower, and that once he finished the repair, she started to make out a check for the work. The plumber reportedly told the woman that he wanted cash for the repair and that he was going to charge her more if she paid with a check.

"She was not comfortable with that," stated the police report.

The woman called police who stopped by the home and spoke to the plumber, who reportedly told the officer that he was simply offering the woman a discount for paying in cash.

The plumber eventually accepted a check as payment for the work.

No one was charged ... by the police.
