Boat House Restaurant makes ‘Best Al Fresco’ list

Only winner in New England

Posted

Tiverton's Boat House Restaurant has been named to OpenTable’s 2016 list of “100 Best Al Fresco Dining Restaurants in America.”

The waterfront restaurant, overlooking the upper end of the Sakonnet River and Mount Hope Bay with west views to Portsmouth, Bristol and the Mount Hope Bridge, was the only Rhode Island restaurant to make the list. In fact it was the only New England restaurant included.

OpenTable says its selections are made based on over 5 million restaurant reviews posted by diners of over 20,000 restaurants during the year from May 1, 2015, to April 30, 2016. Reviews are tabulated by counting the number of responses that select restaurants as being great for outdoor dining and that offer “stunning” views. The Boat House not only has an outdoor dining deck but also features walls of windows that open to its indoor section.

California was the runaway winner in the category, boasting 44 of the 100 restaurants selected. Florida had 13 winners, Hawaii had 12 and Arizona had eight. Closer to home, New York had one restaurant on the list, Red Hat on the River in Irvington, NY.

The Boat House is located at 227 Schooner Drive (below the Villages at Mount Hope Bay) in Tiverton.
