Bristol Police: Possible break-ins, public urination

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between March 16 and March 22:

Monday, March 16

An anonymous caller reported two men were urinating in Independence Park on Thames Street around 8:15 a.m. They were gone when officers arrived.

A couple was reportedly arguing on the corner of Metacom and Mt. Hope avenues at 11 a.m. The man was reportedly wearing a brown jacket and blue pajama bottoms. Officers could not find the couple.

Two men were reportedly trying to break into a vacant house on Sherry Avenue by using a hammer on the door knob, according to a neighbor. The men reportedly worked for the bank that owns the property and were allowed to be there.

A Wood Street resident reported there were packages on her front door when she left to take a walk. When she returned just before 9:30 p.m., they were gone, she told police. However, the woman's husband told officers he didn't think there were packages there to begin with and that he would contact UPS to verify.

A suspicious, dark car was reportedly driving repeatedly through the neighborhood around Burnside Street around 10:30 p.m. The car was gone when police arrived.

Tuesday, March 17

Jullien Warden, 26, of 499 Tidewater Drive, Warwick, was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test on Washington Street just after midnight.

Another couple was reportedly arguing in the street, this time at State and Second streets at 12:30 a.m. They were gone when police arrived.

A woman was reportedly screaming outside Rogers Free Library on Hope Street just after 7 p.m. Police were unable to find her.

Asim Aquil Samuel, 36, of 67 Catherine St., Bristol, was charged with possession of narcotics after being pulled over at Hope and John streets.

Wednesday, March 18

A man was found laying in the middle of the road at Ryan Avenue and Shaw's Lane at 1:30 a.m. Police called Fire Rescue to treat the man for a head laceration.

A caller reported a possible break-in of a vacant home on Peck Avenue. The glass on the storm door was broken and the inside door was open. There did not appear to be a break-in; the wind had apparently broken the door.

Thursday, March 19

An injured coyote was reportedly lying in the road near Bristol Total Fitness on Metacmom Avenue. The animal ran into the woods when police arrived.

A caller said she received a call from her mother-in-law on Magnolia Street telling her her father-in-law was tied up in the easement. Patrolmen investigated and found there to be no problem.

A resident on Gooding Avenue called to report her neighbor was throwing dog feces over the fence.

Friday, March 20

A resident on Oliver Street reported smelling natural gas in the home just after midnight. Police contacted National Grid, who responded and found no gas readings in the house.

Warren Police called their Bristol counterparts to report a reckless driver in a white Volkswagen with Maine registration heading south on Metacom Avenue. Officers responded but could not find the car.

A cat house was reportedly vandalized at a home behind Rogers Free Library. Patrolmen were attempting to contact the owner of the property where the house was located.

A reportedly intoxicated man was walking in the middle of Ferry Road around 8:30 p.m. Fire Rescue responded to help the man.

Saturday, March 21

A caller on Ursela Drive reported she was being harassed by her ex husband. Police finked a report.

Sunday, March 22

A false fire alarm sounded at a home on Prospect Street just after midnight. The owner of the home was attempting to contact the alarm company to fix the problem. Police recorded a noise reading of 67.4 decibels, well over the 50 db residential limit in Bristol.

A driver reported his car had been towed from the municipal parking lot on Thames Street just after 1 a.m. Officers located the car on the street in front of Judge Roy Bean saloon.

A driver reportedly stopped at the top of the Mt. Hope Bridge with flashers on at 8:30 a.m. There was nothing showing when Portsmouth and Bristol Police responded.

Two men were walking on the bridge around noon. Portsmouth Police brought the two Roger Williams University students back to campus. Pedestrians are not allowed on the two-lane bridge.

Jeremy S. Bane, 31, of 10 Timberland Drive, Riverside, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant on Sowams Drive around 1:30 p.m.
