Gallery: Martin, Riverside Middle School cross country

EAST PROVIDENCE — Riverside Middle School was the site of a recent Eastern Division cross country meet between the host Vikings, Martin Middle School and Kickemuit of Bristol-Warren on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

The scores for girls' meet were KMS 25, Martin 31; KMS 15, Riverside 50 and Martin 15, Riverside 40. The boys' results were KMS 25, Martin 32; KMS 15, Riverside 50; Martin 17, Riverside 39.

Martin improved to 3-2 in the boys' ranks with the split while Riverside fell to 0-5. On the girls' side, the Wildcats saw their record move to 3-3 with the Vikings also remaining winless at 0-6.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
