Homeless man sets up camp in Barrington woods

Police tell man he has to vacate the camp

Posted

A Middle Highway resident in Barrington called police after he discovered a makeshift campsite located in the woods behind his home.

The police stopped by and checked out the campsite on Saturday, Dec. 3. An older East Providence man was there and said he had been living in the tent in the woods for about a month.

The homeless man said he had been staying at a place in Providence but left because it was not safe.

Police told the man he could not stay in the woods — that it was private property. He agreed to relocate.
