JoAnn Teixeira, 59, of Hope Street, passed away on Jan. 13 at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta Sicignano Teixeira.
She was the mother of Joseph Edward Teixeira of Germany and Catherine RF Teixeira of Bristol; sister of Mary Teixeira of Newport; niece of Marion Sicignano; and godchild of Mary Louise Medeiros.
JoAnn was a graduate of Our Lady of Fatima High School and was a cook at the RI Veteran’s Home for 15 years. She was also a partner in the former “Duffy’s Newsstand” for 5 years before retiring.
Her funeral services were held Jan. 19 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service of Thanksgiving celebrated by The Rev. Canon Elizabeth Habecker at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. The Co-Celebrant and Homilist was The Rev. Stephanie Shoemaker. Liturgical readings were by Catherine RF Teixeira and Joseph Edward Teixeira. Kimberly and Melissa Hayes were the greeters. The Oblationers were Carolyn Fasano and Camille King. Burial followed in North Burial Ground. Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Shaw, Harold Sands, Sara King, Gina Farrell, Gregory Fasano and Christopher Anderson.
