The fire and police departments will be hosting a joint open house at their respective stations from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23.
Families and friends are invited to attend and meet local firefighters and police officers, tour both stations and view the apparatus, which includes several police cruisers, two 2011 E1 pumpers, a 95-foot tower ladder, three ambulances and two boats.
Firefighters and police officers will be on hand to answer questions about the day-to-day operations of the departments, including how they respond to emergency calls. Fire prevention education will be available, and kids will be provided with fire safety coloring books.
Visitors can also take a tour of the town’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), located upstairs in the fire station. The town’s emergency management director will be on hand to answer questions about the EOC, such as how it functions during a large-scale emergency like a hurricane.
Children can look through the trucks and will have an opportunity to use a real fire hose. Light food and kids activities will also be provided at the free event.
