Ronald Alegria, 68, Bristol

Ronald Alegria, 68, of Bristol, died Monday, May 23, at home. He was the husband of Linda (Wheatley) Alegria.

Ronald was born in Bristol, a son of the late Manuel and Elzira(Perreira) Alegria.

Mr. Alegria was an electrician for the Jay Packaging Company, for over 11 years before retiring. He was a lifelong Bristol resident, and was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church, and recently, St. Mary’s Church.

Ronald was an avid saltwater fisherman, photographer and gardener, and also enjoyed fantasy football. An avid sports fanatic, he was also a member of the Madeira Club in New Bedford, Mass.

Besides his wife, he is survived by: his sons, Keith Alegria and his wife Melyssa of Rehoboth, Mass.; and Brian Alegria and his wife Catherine of Swansea, Mass.; his brothers, Manuel Alegria and his wife Sally of Marion, South Carolina; and James Alegria and his wife Pam of Astoria, Oregon; his sister, Elsie Anctil and her husband, Gerald. of Berkley, Mass. He was the grandfather of Jacob and Hope, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cousin, Irene Fernandes and her husband Richard of Fall River.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol, RI. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours are Thursday, 4-8 p.m. in the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI. Burial will be private.
