The Tiverton Democratic Town Committee (TDTC) voted unanimously on June 29 to support the following for House and Senate District races that represent Tiverton:

• State Senate District 10: Incumbent Senator Walter Felag

• State Senate District 11: Challenger and current Portsmouth Town Council Vice President James Seveny

• State Senate District 12: Incumbent Senator Lou DiPalma

• State House of Representatives District 70: Incumbent Representative John “Jay” Edwards

• State House of Representatives District 71: Incumbent Representative Dennis Canario

“We believe that the Democratic members of our delegation to the General Assembly do a fantastic job representing the interests of Tiverton while also balancing statewide needs and interests,” said Mike Burk, TDTC chairman. “The addition of Jim Seveney to this team can only enhance our team’s ability to ensure that the interests of Tiverton and the East Bay continue to be well represented.”

At the same meeting, the TDTC voted to unanimously support Town Clerk Nancy Mello and Town Treasurer Denise Saurette in their respective re-election races for the offices they currently hold.

“They are experts in their respective fields, they listen to constituents and they ensure that the town operates in a manner that provides the highest quality of services to all of our residents,” Mr. Burk said. The TDTC also voted unanimously to endorse Richard D’Addario for his re-election to the position of judge of probate.

Finally, the TDTC voted unanimously to endorse the following for Tiverton Democratic Committee: Paul Amaral, Sally A. Black, Michael S. Burk, Thomas J. Clegg, Cynthia R. Costa, Hannibal F. Costa, Robert Dias, Carol J. Herrmann, Deborah Janick, Frank R. Joslin, Jr., Frank R. Joslin III, Jerome M. Larkin, Deborah Anna Pallasch, Stanley E. Zeramby, Judith Zeramby, Susan E. Scanlon, Nancy Mello, David Perry, John “Jay” Edwards, Linda Jenkins, Andrea Souza, John G. Edwards V, Diane Farnworth, and Cameron Ramsay.

The TDTC voted to wait until after the July 18 withdrawal-of-candidate deadline to decide which candidates they will ask to provide questionnaire response and/or interview for Town Council, Budget Committee and School Committee, all of which are non-partisan races.

Previously the TDTC voted unanimously to support Congressman David Cicilline in his re-election campaign for Congressional District 1.
