Virginia Amelia Faria, 95, Bristol

Virginia Amelia (Resendes) Faria, 95, of Sherry Avenue, passed away on March 7 at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Center. She was the wife of the late Jacinto Faria.  

Born in Cabouco, Lagoa, St. Michael, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Maria Madelina (Sousa) Resendes. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Tavares and her husband Manuel; and grandchildren Michael A. Tavares and his wife Betsy, and Jessica M. Tavares. She was the sister of Maria Ana Resendes, Manuel Resendes (Rosatina), Jose Resendes (Rolanda), Luisa Lima (Humberto) and the late Olivia Tavares (Manuel).

Mrs. Faria attended school in Portugal and was a stitcher at Converse before retiring.

Her funeral services will be held Friday, March 10, 8 a.m. from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial, 9 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.
Calling hours are Thursday, 4-8 p.m.
