A Morning of Fabulous Ferraris

Exotic car lovers can catch up with members of the Ferrari Club of America’s Rhode Island Chapter as they gather their Italian luxury cars in the giant parking lot of the Newport Car Museum shortly before 9 a.m. With regular admission, visitors can also join in watching the start of the 24 Hours of LeMans at 9 a.m. in the Museum’s Thunderbird Ballroom before touring the Museum (normally open at 10 a.m.). Any Ferrari owner is welcome to bring his or her car to join the Ferrari corral.

WHERE: Newport Car Museum, 1947 West Main Rd., Portsmouth
WHEN: Saturday, May 18; 9 to 11 a.m.
COST: Free outside; admission $18/adults; $15/Seniors, Military, Students; $8/Ages 5-15 (with an adult); Free/Ages 4 and under (with an adult)

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
