Adult ballroom dancing classes on Tuesday in Newport

On Tuesday nights, leave the kids at home and take a step into the regal world of ballroom dancing! Newport Academy of Ballet designs these classes to provide a relaxed, supportive, and fun atmosphere while learning new skills and providing a great physical workout. Sessions can be attended o a drop-in basis, so there's no commitment; join in when it works for you! 

Couples are preferred but no partner or dance experience is required. Attendees will learn a variety of dance styles in both smooth and rhythm. Waltz, foxtrot, cha cha, samba, tango, rumba, and more.

WHEN: Tuesdays; recurring, 6:30pm to 7:30pm

WHERE: Newport Academy of Ballet, 3 Charles St., B7, Newport

PRICING: $10 per ticket

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
