Amy (Furtado) Babbitt, 96, of Sheraton Road, passed away on January 16, 2016, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of the late Lenwood Babbitt.
Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Amy (Prenda) Furtado. She is survived by her children Jeanne Linacre and her husband Peter, Deborah Fischer and her partner Frank, Lenwood Babbitt Jr and his wife Ellen; grandchildren Amy Jeanne Higgins, Henry Kowalski, Terri Lee Gootee, Trent Fischer, Elizabeth Babbitt, Erin Babbitt, Erika Babbitt, Emma Thirlwall, Stuart Linacre; great grandchildren Tiffany, Miriam, Melissa, Jonathan, Jared, Seth, Grayson, Brock, Olivia, Sebastian, Jack, Lucas and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel, Joseph and John Furtado.
Mrs. Babbitt was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School as well as the RI School of Practical Nursing. She worked as a private duty nurse for many years before retiring. She loved knitting and playing cards with her family and friends and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Calling hours will be Monday, January 25, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Bristol.
