Mr. Angelo “Scotty” Vecchio Jr., age 92 of Franklin Court and formerly of Metacom Avenue, Bristol, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Helen (Proto) Vecchio, his wife of 55 years, who preceded him in death in June of 2006.

Born and raised in Providence, he was the son of the late Angelo and Maria (D’Amore) Vecchio. A resident of Bristol for most of his life, he was a World War II Navy veteran.

Angelo was a production line worker for Converse Rubber Company, formerly in Bristol, and previously for the U.S. Rubber Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1985.

A communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, he was a diehard New York Yankees baseball fan, loved following sports and was an avid walker with many daily walks through Colt State Park. He loved passing the time playing cards and spending time with his children, grandchildren and many friends, especially these last couple of years at Franklin Court.

He is survived by three daughters, Carol A. Cherry (Stephen) of Henniker, N.H., Angela M. DelGallo (Ron) of Cranston, and Nancy A. Rogers (Everett, Jr.) of Bristol; seven grandchildren, Sasha, Jered and Zachary Cherry, Jenna Watts (Christopher), Nicholas DelGallo, Anthony Rogers (Melissa) and Nicole Collins (Frederick), and two great-grandchildren, Roman Richard Collins and Helen Jane Rogers. He is also survived by a brother, Americo Vecchio of Warwick.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Anthony and Palmino Vecchio and a sister, Mary Gentile.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of  Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol.  Burial will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
