Armindo Louis Cairrao, 93, of Dreadnaught Avenue, passed away on March 6 at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Providence. He was the husband of Cecilia L. (Duval) Cairrao.
Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Nascimento) Cairrao. He was the father of Janice Iacovelli, Joyce A. Grabert, Elaine L. Vollaro, John T. Cairrao and David J. Cairrao; grandfather of Melissa A. Treeman, Michael D. Iacovelli, Ryan C. Grabert, Joshua S. Grabert, Paul Vollaro, Jr, Barry L. Vollaro, Allison E. Cairrao, Matthew J. Cairrao, Olivia M. Cairrao, Blake R. Cairrao and Brooke E. Cairrao; and great grandfather of Mikayla, Maxwell, Aidan, Emerson, Maeve, Claire, Charlie, Brianna, Brittany, Hailey and Mason. He was the brother off Valdemar “Butch” Cairrao and the late Joseph and Bento Cairrao.
Mr. Cairrao was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School and Bryant College. He joined the Navy after high school and served in WWII as a pharmacist mate. He was a financial analyst for Raytheon for 23 years and a self-employed accountant and tax preparer for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past Grand Knight and District Deputy. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 6 and served as a Eucharistic Minister and Minister of the Sick at St. Mary’s Church.
His funeral services will be held Monday, March 13, 9 a.m. from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St. with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Sunday, 2-6 p.m.
