Barrington Majors Division All Stars hit five home runs

The Barrington Majors Division All Stars outscored Pawtucket's Pineview team, 14-7, in an elimination bracket semifinal on Monday, in Pawtucket.

With the win, Barrington advanced to the elimination bracket final where it will play on Wednesday against the loser of the Riverside vs. Bristol winner's bracket showdown. 

Against Pineview, Barrington's offense exploded for 14 runs. 

Barrington scored one run in the first on an RBI double by Andrew Lapointe, and scored two in the second on a ground-rule double by Gabe Tanous, three walks, and a sacrifice fly by Griffin Crain.  

Barrington scored seven runs in the third inning with home runs by Tanous, Dean Sequeira and Crain, a triple by JT Celico and singles by Lapointe and Harrison Cooley.

Barrington scored four more in the fifth with a second home run by Crain and a home run by Lapointe, and base hits by Matt Davis and Harrison Cooley.

Davis pitched four strong innings and Matt Raffa pitched the last two innings. Barrington's defense made several great plays, including executing several run-downs.

Win over Portsmouth

The Barrington Little League Majors All Star team battled back from a three-run deficit in the last inning to defeat Portsmouth 8-4 last Saturday.

Portsmouth struck first with a run in the first inning, and then added three more in the third inning for a 4-0 lead.  Barrington's offense got one run back in the fourth inning, but remained three runs down entering the sixth inning.  

In the top of the sixth and facing elimination, Barrington rallied for seven runs. Matt Raffa, who had two hits in the inning, led off the rally with a line drive base hit to center. Aidan Aggarwal walked, and Matt Davis and Harrison Cooley each put tough balls in play that forced mistakes by Portsmouth.  

Griffin Crain, Andrew Lapointe, Gabe Tanous and Raffa then came through with key hits that put Barrington ahead by four runs.

Crain threw three shut-out innings, including the bottom of the sixth, to cap the victory.
