The Barrington Little League All Star team competing in the Christopher Andreozzi tournament came within one game of reaching the finals.
Last Tuesday, Barrington defeated Cranston in a quarterfinal game, 9-1. But a day later the local team fell to Smithfield 13-5 and was eliminated from play.
Against Cranston, Barrington was led offensively by Ace Finn, Cormac Lang, Henry Alfonso, Miles Dolan and Zack Sheinberg. Each contributed with a hit and a run scored. Behind the plate Miles Dolan caught a great game and combined with Ace Finn to complete a key double play to end an early rally by Cranston, a team that had beaten Barrington earlier in the tournament. Henry Alfonso, Ace Finn and Cormac Lang all pitched, holding Cranston to just one run.
On Wednesday, Barrington met Smithfield in a Final Four match-up. The teams were tied early 2-2 when Ace Finn hit an inside the park home run to put Barrington up 4-2.
Smithfield went ahead in the fifth inning and eventually pulled away to win 13-5. Miles Dolan, Anthony Fede and Cormac Lang all pitched well during the game while Henry Alfonso had another solid performance behind the plate.
Ryna Finn, the head coach said, "The team played a great tournament, finished in the top 4 out of 14 teams and should be congratulated on a superb effort."
