Barrington High School's Bobby Colantonio continued to roll over the competition in the hammer. The Eagles' senior ripped off a 243 foot, 6 inch throw in the 12-pound hammer and finished more than 40 feet better than the second place competitor at the annual Knights of Columbus Relays in Providence last weekend.

Colantonio's throw was the second-longest ever in the meet's history. According to reports, Walter Henning of St. Anthony's in New York had a throw of 248 feet during the 2007 Knights of Columbus Relays.

Bobby Colantonio wasn't the only thrower from town to impress during the recent meet. Barrington High School's Faith Polando and Annika Kelly finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the hammer throw. Faith had a throw of 153 feet, 2 inches while Annika had a throw of 152 feet, 5 inches. Barrington's Sydney Polando finished in eighth place with a throw of 133 feet, 8 inches.

All three girls also performed well in the 3K hammer throw. Annika had a top throw of 171 feet, 6 inches, while Faith tallied a 161-foot throw and Sydney had a throw of 151 feet, 7 inches.

In the freshman mile event, Barrington's Teá Bishop finished sixth with a time of 5:57.0. Her teammates Chris Curran finished eighth and Meredith Kaplan was ninth. Curran clocked a 6:22.8, while Kaplan crossed the line at 6:28.3.

In the boys' events, Barrington was paced by Bobby Colantonio in the hammer throw. Jack Dunn, also from Barrington, finished ninth in the same event with a throw of 157 feet, 3 inches. Colantonio also finished first in the 6K hammer throw.
