The Barrington High School baseball team welcomed an undefeated Ponaganset team to town on Monday and fell to the Chieftains 3-0, dropping their record to 2-3 on the season.  

It was another contest with terrific pitching and defense, as both starters recorded complete games. The opponent's starter gave up five hits over the seven innings, striking out nine. Andrew Conaty pitched his second straight complete game for the Eagles, giving up three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts.

The Eagles went toe-to-toe with the top team in Division II, but could not break through on the scoreboard.  Eagles hitters had runners on base in innings 2 through 6, with runners in scoring position in four of those innings, but squandered those chances to cross the plate.

The Barrington defense held Ponaganset in check with another double-play, this on a line-out to second baseman George Connelly to Liam McManus to stop a Ponaganset rally in the fourth and hold the score at 3-0.  The Eagles battery of Conaty and Rondeau picked off two baserunners; Conaty at first and Rondeau at third to keep the score close and limit the damage.

The Eagles' offense was led by Owen Roberts with two hits and a walk, while Nick Rondeau, Matt Zeleznik and Cabot Maher had one hit each.
