The Barrington High School baseball team opened its season with a 13-2 win over Woonsocket at Renaud Field last week.

Andrew Conaty got the start for the Eagles and went 4 and 2/3 innings on the mound, giving up one hit and one earned run to earn the win. George Promades and George Connelly combined to pitch 2 and 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

The key inning for the Eagles came in the top of the fifth. With two outs and runners on, key hits by Matt Macaluso, Henry Johnson and George Connelly plated three runs to break open a close game and give the Eagles a comfortable lead.  

The offense then exploded in the last two innings with 8 runs, led by an Andy Marra home run. The Eagles had two hits by Cabot Maher and Johnson, and hits by Matt Zeleznik, Macaluso and Connelly. Maher, Marra, Macaluso and Josh Leadem each had 2 RBIs to power the offense.

In their home opener, the Eagles took on Westerly and, after taking an early inning lead, ended up losing 11-7.

Nick Peecher got the start and pitched well into the third inning before some walks, hits and fielding errors let the visitors back in the game.  

Westerly grabbed the momentum and the lead in the fifth. The Westerly starter pitched into the seventh, keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard in the late innings.

The Eagles offense was led by Andy Marra with 2 hits including a triple and 2 RBIs, Mike Pfeffer with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs, Josh Leadem with a double and an RBI, Maher with a single and an RBI, and Connelly and Liam McManus with singles to tally the 8 team hits.

In their third game of the season, the Eagles traveled to Slater Park for game against Tolman High School, and left McKinnon Field with a hard-fought 5-4 victory. It took 9 innings for the Eagles to subdue the Tigers in a playoff-like atmosphere, upping the Eagles' league record to 2-1.

Matt Zeleznik got the start for Barrington and pitched well into the third, giving up 1 earned run while striking out 2. Andrew Conaty pitched 6 strong innings of relief giving up 1 earned run while striking out 6 to get the win. Maher came in for the bottom of the ninth to shut down Tolman in order with 2 big strikeouts to get the save.

It was a see-saw game, as Barrington grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fifth with a 2-out single and RBI by Maher.  Tolman tied it up 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh.  

Eagles went ahead 4-3 in the eighth; Tolman tied it up in the bottom of the inning 4-4. 

In the top of the ninth, Marra singled and stole second and scored on an error to take the 5-4 lead, and Maher saved it in the bottom of the ninth.

Eagles offense was lead by Zeleznik with 2 hits, Conaty with 3 hits including a double, Maher with a single and RBI, Pfeffer with an RBI and sacrifice, and Johnson and Marra with hard singles.
