Passerby spots boy about a half-mile from his home

A 6-year-old Barrington boy twice wandered away from his home last week.

At about 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, police received a call from a resident in the Roberta Plat area — the resident's son had gone missing. The young boy was wearing his pajamas when he wandered off.

Police began searching the area, and at 12:23 p.m. received a call from a motorist who had spotted a young boy wearing pajamas near the intersection of County Road and Lincoln Avenue. Police responded to that location, picked up the boy and then returned him to his home.

A day later, the same boy went missing again.

Police received a call at about 4:30 p.m., notifying them of the missing boy. A short while later, a neighbor flagged down an officer who was searching for the boy and said he had located the youngster — the boy was inside a house across the street from his own home. He had allegedly entered the home through an open garage door.
