The seventh grade Barrington Division 1 Metro West boys basketball team finished a successful summer campaign by defeating Seekonk 41-34 in the championship game at Mass Premier in Mansfield.
The Eagles led 18-16 at the half and used their strong man-to-man defense to build a double digit margin midway through the second stanza.
Cole Reed led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points, followed by Michael Raffa who had 10.Ā Mark Bernardo added 8 and Connor Sullivan chipped in with 7.Ā Barrington avenged its only loss of the summer and advanced to the finals by defeating North Attleboro 44-34. The boys finished the summer by winning their last 10 games and ended the summer season with a 10-1 record.
The Barrington Youth Basketball Association had five additional teams participate in the Metro West Summer League.
Coach Todd Rywolt's eighth grade boys team went 5-3 and was knocked off by Westborough 56-54 in quarterfinal action.
Jeremy Duffy's seventh grade squad had a strong playoff run, before being eliminated by Dedham 53-52 in the semi's.
Steve Coutu's sixth grade team was 6-2 during the regular season before being ousted by Mansfield.
Coach Mark Bonneau's fifth grade squad upset North Attleboro by four points in the quarterfinals, before losing a heartbreaker to Westwood 34-33 in semifinal action.
And Vin Scandura's fourth grade team played up a grade level and had a very good regular season before being eliminated by Attleboro.
