Eagles win three events at meet

The Barrington High School boys indoor track team finished third at the Metropolitan Division Championship on Saturday, Jan. 26.

Brendan Fay won the 1,500-meter race and also ran a leg of the Eagles' 4x800-meter relay, which finished first. In the 1,500, Fay clocked a season's best time of 4:09.75, which was fastest enough for first place overall.

In the 4x800-meter relay, Fay ran the anchor leg of the team, which clocked an 8:32.46. Jamie Gunness ran the first leg, followed by Calvin Hennesey and Holden Vaughan. Fay also finished fifth in the 600-meter race and Gunness was sixth in the 600.

Barrington's Walter Joachim-Delpoio won the 55-meter hurdles at the division championship with a time of 8.0 seconds. Jack Cheng was fifth in the same event. Joachim-Delpoio also finished fifth in the long jump.

The team of Aaron Brady, Andrew Blazewicz, Joachim-Delpoio and Ben Geoghegan ran to a fifth place finish in the 4x200-meter relay. Joachim-Delpoio partnered with Hennessey, Gunness and Fay for a third place finish in the 4x400-meter relay race.

William Cauley also had a strong meet — he finished third in the shot put and the weight throw.
