Barrington boys finish third at Eastern Division Championship

Powered by a sweep of the top three spots in the 110-meter hurdles, the Barrington High School boys track team finished third at the Eastern Division Championship on Wednesday, May 9.

Barrington's Josh Roy clocked the fastest time in the 110-hurdles at 16.14 seconds, while Walter Joachim-Delpoio was second at 16.24 seconds. Jack Cheng finished third in the event with a time of 17.64 seconds.

Joachim-Delpoio and Cheng also ran well in the 300-meter hurdles — Joachim-Delpoio finished second with time of 45.55 seconds and Cheng was third at 46.23 seconds. Eliot Laidlaw finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. 

Laidlaw finished second in the 1,500-meter race, crossing the line with a time of 4:11.74, and was fourth in the 3,000-meter race.

Jack Dunn finished third in the hammer, with a distance of 166-feet, while William Cauley was fourth at 153-feet, 4 inches, and Matteo Lopergolo was sixth at 152-feet, 1 inch. 

Dom Portelli finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing 8-feet, 6-inches, and Joachim-Delpoio finished fifth in the triple jump. 

Barrington's relay teams also ran well. The 4x800 team of George Wicker, Ethan Major, Portelli and Jamie Gunness finished third, as did the 4x400 relay team of Wicker, John Jay Scheieffelin, Laidlaw and Gunness. The 4x100 relay team of Cheng, Amit Bhatia, Joachim-Delpoio and Ben Geoghegan.
