Barrington cheerleaders raising money for trip to nationals

Posted

The Barrington Pop Warner Midget cheerleaders are competing for the national title at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. on Dec. 11.

To offset the cost of traveling to the competition and trip to Disney World, the cheer families are hard at work asking the community to help relieve some of the expense. The average cost for three nights is $650 per athlete and the same for the coaches and parent chaperones — not including the additional expense of air fare. There are 22 cheerleaders on the squad hoping to return to Barrington with the national title.

In a short three-week window from their first place win at the regional competition on Nov. 14, they are hoping to raise $30,000 before they leave for Florida on Dec. 9.
