Hopes for another trip to the Division I state championship came to an end for the Barrington High School girls' lacrosse team on Wednesday, May 31.

The Eagles, who have been fixtures in the lacrosse finals, lost to Wheeler 15-10 in a semifinal game at Brown University. The loss ended Barrington's season and sent Wheeler into a finals showdown against Moses Brown.

Wheeler built a 7-3 lead in the first half, but Barrington chipped away at it, cutting the margin to 7-5 at halftime. The Eagles scored the first two goals of the second half to tie the score at 7-7, but were unable to complete the comeback bid.

Alison Vetromile scored three goals for the Eagles, while Annie Berkery and Hope Robertson each scored twice. Clare Gaffney, Elizabeth Lewis and Megan Mahoney also scored for Barrington, and Lewis also had an assist. Caileigh Durkin made four saves in net for the Eagles.
