Both Barrington High School soccer teams opened their playoffs on Tuesday night, Oct. 30, but only one squad advanced to the next round.

The Barrington High School boys soccer team defeated Bishop Hendricken 2-1 in a preliminary round playoff game at Victory Field, while the Barrington girls team lost 3-2 to Cumberland, falling 3-0 in penalty kicks.

Nico Perugini and Alex Soares each scored goals for the boys team, which held a 1-0 halftime lead over Hendricken. Aiden Doyle and Joe Carroll tallied assists in the victory, and Emmanuel Despines made nine saves for the Eagles.

The win propelled the boys team into a quarterfinal match-up at Moses Brown on Saturday, Nov. 3. The time of the game has not yet been released.

The Barrington High School girls team held a 1-0 halftime lead, but the Clippers scored twice in the second half and took a 2-1 lead. Grace Muccino scored late for Eagles and the teams remained tied at 2-2 after regulation. Both teams battled through scoreless overtime periods and then faced off in penalty kicks. Barrington's first two shots were stopped, while the Clippers found the back of the Barrington goal on their first three attempts.

Petra Bertoncini and Grace Muccino both scored goals in regulation for the Eagles, while Audrey Gravelle had an assist. Jenna Park finished the game with nine saves.

Barrington ended the season with a 7-7-2 record.
