Boys run at states

Members of the Barrington High School boys track team set two new school records en route to a 24th place finish at the state track championship on Saturday.

The 4x800 meter relay team of George Wicker, Jamie Gunness, Ethan Major and Eliot Laidlaw broke the 2015 school record, clocking an 8:05.51. The time was strong enough for a fifth place finish in the event. (The previous record was held by Grant Auber, Gerald Guerrieri, Max Guerrieri, and Sam Somera.)

Eliot Laidlaw also set a new Barrington High School record in the 3,000 meter race. Laidlaw clocked an 8:49.50, which eclipsed the old mark set by Cyrus Cousins in 2011.

"We had some great work on the track too from our young hurdlers Jack Cheng and Walter Joachim-Delpoio, with Walter close to scoring in the 300 intermediates," wrote Barrington coach Bill Barrass.
