Barrington girls lacrosse edge LaSalle, 9-8

BARRINGTON—The Barrington girls lacrosse team was locked in a an 8-8 battle with rival LaSalle when Eagles senior Alex LaMotte scored the game winning goal with just under 3 minutes to play in the game. The win lifted the first place Eagles to 12-1, in Division I North and dropped second place LaSalle to 9-3.

Senior Elizabeth Dolan scored 3 goals in the victory. Alex LaMotte and Annie Sullivan both netted 2 goals and Maeve Gaffney and Mollie Coogan each scored 1 goal.

The seniors gave flowers to the LaSalle seniors and their parents for senior night during halftime.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
