Keene State College freshman Sean Bonneau, of Barrington, was named Men’s Golf Rookie of the Year for the Little East Conference recently.
Bonneau, who graduated from Barrington High School last year, shot a team-best and rookie-best 150 (plus-10) over two days at the conference championship, which was held in Portland, Maine at the Riverside Golf Course.
Bonneau finished sixth individually at the event — the Owls were second as a team. Bonneau was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
After shooting a 76 (+6) on the first day, he cut two strokes off that score and shot a 74 (+4) on the following day, including a pair of birdies.
The Barrington native was named LEC Rookie of the Week twice (Oct. 2, Oct. 9) and the Player of the Week on Oct. 2 after his individual medal in Keene State’s victory at their home invitational on Sept. 29 at the Keene Country Club in which he shot a 76 (+4).
"Sean had a great few days. His future is bright at KSC," said Keene State head coach Jeff Timmer in a press release from Keene State College. "He found a way to recover today even when he was out of position on a few holes, so I was impressed with his determination all week."
