The Barrington High School boys hockey team defeated East Greenwich, 8-2, in the league opener last weekend.

East Greenwich scored the first goal of the game, but Barrington stormed back with four out of the next five goals. Callum Flaherty opened Barrington's scoring with a goal off an assist from Brendan Ridlon. Dominic Robidoux followed that with two straight goals, including one off an assist from Matthew Spears. East Greenwich then netted a goal to cut Barrington's lead to 3-2, but the Eagles responded when Robidoux assisted Spears on a goal.

Barrington's captain Josh Roy scored two unassisted goals in the second period, helping the Eagles increase their lead to 6-2. And in the third period, Flaherty found the back of the Avengers' net with assists from Ridlon and Drew Sirmalis.

Owen Gordon scored Barrington's final goal of the game, with an assist from Luke Rudman.

Barrington goalie Stephan Amaral finished the game with 25 saves in net.
