Witness spots men taking cones from Waseca Avenue construction site

Police charged two Barrington men after the individuals were allegedly spotted stealing traffic cones early Thursday morning, June 30.

Police received a call from someone who said they spotted individuals in a pickup truck taking traffic cones from a construction site on Waseca Avenue at about 1 a.m.

Police tracked down the vehicle, which was driven by Barrington resident Nicholas Raymond, 20. An officer said there was an odor of alcohol coming from Mr. Raymond; beers and a bottle of vodka were also allegedly found inside the truck.

Police later charged Mr. Raymond with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol-first offense, refusing to take a chemical test, larceny under $1,500, possession of false identification, and possession of alcoholic beverage by underage person.

Police also charged his passenger, Barrington resident Matthew Barry, 20, with larceny under $1,500, possession of false identification, possession of alcoholic beverage by underage person.
