Barrington neighbors at odds over security cameras

Police called to possible trespassing incident on Teed Avenue

Posted

A house is being built on the edge of Hundred Acre Cove in Barrington, and police said some neighbors have been mired in an ongoing dispute with the people building the house.

Most recently, on Thursday morning, July 20, police drove to the construction site and spoke to the man building the home. He said a neighbor had trespassed on the property and placed pieces of cardboard over the lenses of the security cameras he had installed on the property.

Police officers then went to the neighbor who was allegedly involved in the incident. That man told officers that he believed the cameras had been positioned so that they looked into his home.

Officers checked out the cameras and said it appeared the cameras were not pointed at the neighbor's home. Police then told the man that he could not trespass onto the construction site or tamper with the security cameras.

Earlier during the construction project, a contractor told police that he believed a neighbor had unscrewed the oil plug to one of the excavators used on the site in an effort to destroy the machine's engine.

To date, no one has been charged.
