A 99-year-old woman who works as a dog trainer spent some time in a hospital emergency room last week after she was bitten by a Barrington dog.

According to Barrington police, the elderly woman from Scituate had stopped by an Allen Avenue home to help train a dog. The soon-to-be-centenarian was using cheese to train the dog and was reportedly bitten on the arm when the dog snatched at a piece of the cheese.

The wound was serious enough to warrant a trip to Rhode Island Hospital, where the elderly woman was treated. According to the police dispatch narrative, a nurse at the hospital said the woman suffered "deep puncture wounds through the muscle to bone on her right forearm."

The incident was reported to police on Tuesday, March 29.
