Rehoboth teens claim Barrington homeowner pulled gun on them

Posted

Barrington police charged two 17-year-old Rehoboth, Mass. residents with attempted breaking and entering and conspiracy on Friday, Nov. 10.

The two teens from Rehoboth — both are males — reportedly broke a rear glass door at a Middle Highway residence at about noon, but fled from the scene before entering because the homeowner arrived.

One of the teenagers stayed nearby and was quickly apprehended by police, while the other took off on foot and was not immediately located.

Police spoke to the one teen in custody; he initially said he was playing Pokemon Go at the nearby Zion Bible College property, but later said that he had been at the house and alleged that the homeowner had pulled a shotgun on him.

Police said the homeowner does own shotgun but there was no other evidence to support the teenager's claim.

Police said the teenager later admitted to planning to break into the home and steal items. Police later tracked down the other teenager and charged him.
