Barrington Police: Drunk driver's car was missing a tire

Warwick man facing DUI charge

Posted

Barrington Police charged Edward George Mullaney, 35, of Warwick, with DUI of liquor-blood alcohol concentration unknown-first offense on Sunday, July 3.

An officer was driving in the area of County Road at about 10:30 p.m. when he heard a loud noise. The officer then located a vehicle traveling on County Road — the vehicle was missing a front tire. Police said the tire was completely gone, and the car was driving on the rim, resulting in smoke and sparks.

The officer ordered the vehicle over to the side of the road. Police approached the driver, Mullaney, who asked what the problem was.

Police said they could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver. Police said Mullaney failed a field sobriety test and was charged.
