Barrington Police respond to house parties over the weekend

At one party, two men face off in wrestling match

Two nights. Two house parties. One wrestling match.

At about 2 a.m. on Saturday morning, Sept. 30, a Barrington Police officer was patrolling Hampden Meadows when he spotted a large gathering at a local home.

The officer stopped at the house and spoke to the daughter of the homeowners, as they were out of town. She allegedly told police that she was having a college graduation party. Police said there were no signs of alcohol and the party host assured police that no one outside the home was being loud.

Police left, but returned a short time later when they received reports of a fight outside the home. Police said there were two men outside the home who appeared to be fighting. People at the party said the men were not fighting — the crowd told police that the men were wrestling against each other.

No one was charged.

At about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, an officer was driving along a side street in Hampden Meadows when he spotted several cars parked outside a home. Police said there was evidence that there may be an underage drinking party taking place.

Police were able to contact the homeowner who was out of town. She said she was on her way home and asked her 18-year-old son to speak with officers. Police said the teenager denied any underage drinking was taking place at the home. He also refused to let officers inside the house after they asked if they could conduct a well-being check of the juveniles inside.

Police later ran the license plates of the vehicles parked outside the house and were able to contact the parents of some of the juveniles inside. Police told the parents to come pick up their children.

Police said the homeowner was uncooperative with the investigation.
