Barrington Police made a few arrests last week, including one for larceny under $1,500. Following are some items from the police incident log.
• Barrington police charged Robert Silvia, 55, of Warren, on Tuesday, Dec. 1, with larceny under $1,500. Mr. Silvia allegedly stole a motorcycle from a Rumstick area home at which he had been doing construction work. Police said Mr. Silvia admitted to the larceny. He also sold the motorcycle to another party.
• A Hazelton Road resident stopped into the station on Wednesday, Dec. 2, to file a complaint about his neighbor. The resident told police that his neighbor has been throwing sticks and rocks over his fence into his yard. He said one of the rocks almost struck him in the head. Police stopped by the neighbor's property and spoke to the homeowner. She said she was upset about tree branches that kept falling off the complainant's rotting tree and dropping into her yard. She denied throwing any rocks over the fence. Police told the homeowner to stop throwing the branches over the fence.
• Barrington police received a 911 call at about 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 from a Bay Spring resident who said there was a man holding a hatchet chasing another man around a neighboring property. Police officers responded to a Narragansett Avenue residence and spoke to the people involved. Police later charged Matthew W. Allen, 39, of 188 Narragansett Ave., with domestic-simple assault/battery, and Martha M. Allen, 64, of the same address, with domestic-simple assault/battery, domestic-disorderly conduct, and resisting legal or illegal arrest. Police Mr. Allen was chasing his step-father after he asked Mr. Allen to clean up the property. Police said Ms. Allen struck the victim, her husband, in the face while officers were at the property. Mr. Allen and his mother were both issued no contact orders for the victim.
• Barrington police charged Thomas E. Foley, 66, of 40 Cottage St., with sexual assault-second degree, furnishing/procurement alcoholic beverages underage persons-first offense, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, stemming from an alleged incident that occurred on Nov. 13. Police said Mr. Foley was related to the victim. Following the alleged incident, Mr. Foley was supposed to turn himself into police, but was admitted to a hospital. After being released from the hospital, Mr. Foley turned himself into police and was charged.
