Resident canceled $1,800 job after learning town would remove tree for free

Posted

A Barrington resident contacted police on Nov. 8 after he received numerous harassing phone calls from a tree company representative.

The resident said he initially called the company to help remove a tree damaged during a recent storm. But after learning that the town's DPW would remove the tree for free, the resident called the company and canceled the order, which was estimated to cost $1,800.

The tree company representative told police that the resident did not cancel the order until after a crew had been dispatched, and the company requested the resident pay for the canceled job order.
