Barrington students offer help after hurricanes

Students to hold fund-raising dinner on Oct. 12

There will be a special Hurricane Harvey relief effort dinner and silent auction at Barrington High School on Thursday, Oct. 12.

The event will run from 6 to 9 p.m., and all proceeds will benefit a school hit hard by the hurricane — a former Barrington High School teacher is currently working at the Houston school.

Middle schoolers offer help

Barrington Middle School students went above and beyond fulfilling a wish list of items for people impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The local students offered the helping hand to families of seventh-graders at Frank Black Middle School in Houston, Texas. In return, the students in Texas crafted hand-made thank you cards and sent them to the Barrington boys and girls.

Also, the middle school is conducting a BMS Hurricane Relief Penny War — the grade that collects the most pennies will be allowed to wear hats inside school for a day.
