The Model United Nations Club at Barrington High School performed well at a recent conference at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
The Barrington team was named "Best Large Delegation" and a number of BHS students won individual awards:
• Alice Fisher, Best Delegate SPECPOL
• Emily Gorman, Best Delegate UNHCR
• Alex Perugini, Best Delegate JCC China
• Maya Striuli, Best Delegate JCC Japan (Club Co-President)
• Emilio Cuebas, Outstanding Delegate, JCC US (Club Co-President)
• Gabrielle Ellicott, Honorable Mention CELAC
• Sudiksha Malick, Honorable Mention UNHCR
"This is by far the best showing for a Barrington delegation and it is also the largest delegation we have ever taken to UMASS," wrote the club's advisor, Joseph W. Roberts.
The Model UN program allows students an opportunity to play the roles of delegates in the United Nations. The program simulates the real activities that take place with United Nations committees.
