A 17-year-old Barrington boy is facing a slew of charges by police after he allegedly slept one night inside the high school and another inside the Barrington United Methodist Church.

A Barrington High School administrator called police on Monday, Nov. 20 and told officers that surveillance cameras inside the school had captured footage of the teenager walking through the halls of the school late Sunday night. The teenager reportedly showed up for class on Monday morning. 

On Tuesday morning, police stopped by the school and took the teenager into custody. Officers charged the local teenager with willful trespassing in a school building. School officials, meanwhile, suspended the student from classes. 

Later that morning, police learned that the same 17-year-old boy had also broken into the Barrington United Methodist Church on Washington Road and stayed in the building overnight. Police charged the teenager with breaking and entering a business, public building or ship with felony intent.

Police said the teenager did not damage anything inside either building during his overnight stays. 

The teenager reportedly told investigators that he has been arguing with his parents and has not been staying at his home.

The teenager's case will be handled in Rhode Island Family Court.
