Barrington track wins Eastern Division title

Barrington boys complete regular season with 10-0 record

Barrington won the Eastern Division regular season championship with a dual meet victory on Monday. The Eagles defeated Middletown, 9-124, and St. Patrick, 150-0, to finish with a 10-0 record. 

Barrington celebrated a number of impressive performances. Anthony Pitts won the 3,000-meter race, while Sam Read raced to a win in the 100 and the 200. Josh Meranda won the 300 hurdles and the triple jump, and Josh Roy won the high jump, the long jump, and the 110 hurdles.

Hayden Ivatts won the 1,500 and also grabbed gold in the 800-meter race. Jack Dunn was tops in the hammer and the discus. Dominic Portelli won the pole vault and Mars Bishop raced to a win in the 400-meter race. 

Barrington's 4x400-meter relay team of Charles Guglielmo, Jamie Gunness, Eli Mitnick and Mars Bishop ran to victory. The Eagles' 4x100 relay team of Meranda, Sanni Harder, Evan Pomfret and Read also won.

Barrington also had a number of athletes compete in the Classical Classic meet at Mt. Pleasant High School on Saturday. Mars Bishop finished second in the 1,500-meter race, Josh Roy finished third in the 110 hurdles, and Sam Read raced to a fifth place finish in the 100.

Barrington defeated Bay View, 113-41, Middletown 137-16, and St. Patrick 153-0 in a meet on Monday. 

Barrington's Claire Grover won three events during the meet — the high jump, the long jump and the 100-meter high hurdles. Elizabeth Grover won two events — the triple jump and the 300-meter hurdles. Annika Kelly won the discus and Elizabeth Eden won the pole vault, while Faith Polando won the hammer throw. Olivia Middleton won the 100-meter race and the 200-meter race, and Kate Zitzmann won the 3,000.

Barrington also had two victorious relay teams. The 4x100 team of Middleton, Abigail Walter, Erin Abbott and Jillian Walter won, as did the 4x400 team of Julia Howarth, Caroline Livingston, Zitzmann and Jillian Walter.
