The Barrington High School girls' volleyball team will try to complete an undefeated season when they play against Cranston West in the Division II state finals on Saturday, Nov. 21.

The Eagles knocked off Tolman, 3-0, in the Division II semifinals on Wednesday night, Nov. 18, 25-16, 25-18, 28-26. Barrington coach Ron Enos said his team started strong against Tolman, a team they had defeated 3-0 during the regular season.

"I wasn't sure how we'd do," said Enos. "... but we came out and got out to a quick start. We played well."

Freshman Maile Somera led the way for Barrington, finishing the match with 16 kills, 16 digs and 3 aces. Christina Lamb also played well for the Eagles, tallying 5 kills and 3 blocks, while Kayla Howarth had 19 assists, 4 digs and one ace.

Enos said his entire team played well in the semifinal match, also noting the efforts of Molly Sullivan, Caroline Connelly, Nina Regan and Anna Wilson-Wuestefeld.

"No team I've coached is tougher than this group of girls," said Enos. "They work hard in practice. They don't complain. They don't make excuses. It's just a great group of kids."

Barrington finished the regular season with a 16-0 record and has improved to 18-0 with its playoff run. The Eagles, who have dropped just one set all season, will play against Cranston West in the Division II finals on Saturday at 2 p.m. The game will be played at Rhode Island College.

Enos said Cranston West is a well-coached team and is entering the finals after upsetting Lincoln and East Greenwich.

"We've got to come out and play our game," said Enos. "We like to play fast and aggressive. We serve well. We pass well. And we play fast."
