Barrington woman makes idle threat to rob bank

Posted

Choose your words carefully. That was the message from Barrington police to a New Meadow Road resident after she allegedly spouted off some choice comments to a bank manager last week.

The manager of an East Providence bank phoned Barrington police after he received a call from the angry customer on Tuesday, Dec. 22. The manager said the customer was upset about her overdrawn bank account. He said she also spoke about her poor health and then reportedly said "Maybe I'll come rob the bank and get arrested. At least I'll get three square meals."

That comment crossed the line, said the manager.

Barrington police investigated the situation and called the New Meadow Road resident who made the reported threat. An officer spoke with the woman and told her that while she was not going to be arrested for the comment, she needed to choose her words more carefully.
