Be a good citizen: Make that call

Posted

All are innocent until proven guilty. But from all appearances it looks like a good citizen may have saved unknown victims from what authorities paint as a deviant sexual predator, when police arrested Christopher Kinney late last month.

The story of Mr. Kinney and of how police found out about him should be required reading for anyone who ever sees something questionable on Facebook, other Social Media outlets or in person. A co-worker of Mr. Kinney’s found disturbing content on his page and called police, setting off a month-long investigation that ultimately led to his arrest on child pornography and enticement charges.

To that co-worker who made the phone call to police, we say, ‘Thank you.’ To others who may one day encounter disturbing images or words on a friend’s page, the message is clear: Get involved, call the authorities, and help make the community a little bit safer.
