My family and I grew up in Bristol, and I spent the majority of my life living downtown. Recently, I moved to Warren to run my family-owned business. I have watched Warren grow and thrive in recent years. I want to see Bristol do the same.
I would love to buy a house and move back to Bristol, but when I weigh the options, Warren seems to have a brighter future. Already, Warren is competing successfully against Bristol in dining and shopping. Warren used to be the bridge from Barrington to Bristol, but now people are stopping, shopping, dining and loving the nightlife and all it has to offer.
Bristol can't afford to miss out on opportunities like the Belvedere project. My heart will always reside in Bristol, and I wish nothing but the best for the most beautiful town I have ever seen. This, to me, is all about the economic benefits. Replace an empty lot and parking garage that serves no one but condo residents with a beautiful building that will breathe new life into downtown. He owns the land, so those seem to be the only options on the table.
If the town votes no, Thames Street remains the same. Many of my friends and family make a living off people dining and shopping downtown. They, and the entire town, deserve this opportunity. Thank you for giving me the time to voice my opinion.
