Eagles shut out Clippers, Rams and Lynx

The Barrington High School field hockey team recently reeled off shutout wins over Cumberland, LaSalle and The Lincoln School. 

The Eagles blasted Cumberland on 14-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Addyson Whittet scored three goals and assisted on another. Freshman Norah Abbas also scored three goals and had a single assist. Ava Anderson and Emma Mueller each had two goals; Anderson also had two assists. Other Barrington players to score goals in the victory included Primrose Anderson, Ava DiMatteo, Sarah Bourk and Liliana Hamilton. Olivia Pereira and Chloe Moscrop assisted on goals. 

On Sept. 20, Barrington defeated LaSalle 3-0. Whittet, Mueller and Chelsea Duncan scored the goals. Moscrop, DiMatteo and Roxana Mohammadi also played well for Barrington in the victory. 

On Sept. 19, the Eagles cruised to a 7-0 win over The Lincoln School. Whittet led the Eagles’ attack with three goals, while Bourk, Lily Kirk, Primrose Anderson and Mueller each scored single goals. Shelby Gasbarro, Mueller, Duncan, Moscrop and Kirk notched assists. Mohammadi and DiMatteo also played well, said Barrington High School Coach Anne Gasbarro. 

The Eagles have outscored their opponents 28-2 so far this season, en route to a 4-1 record. Barrington will play at South Kingstown on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
