Barrington opens playoffs with game today, May 30

The Barrington High School softball team defeated Westerly 6-0 on Wednesday, May 23, and improved to 14-3.

Paige Concannon pitched for Barrington, striking out 12 Westerly batters while scattering five hits. 

The game served as the regular season finale. Barrington enters the Division II playoff tournament as the number two seed and on Wednesday, May 30, the Eagles will host the winner of the North Smithfield vs. South Kingstown game. Barrington was one of five teams to receive a first-round bye for the playoffs.

The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Girls lacrosse

Barrington received a first round bye in the Division I playoffs and will square off against Wheeler in a semifinal match-up on Thursday, May 31. The Eagles are the number three seed, while Wheeler is the number two seed. 

The semifinal matchup will be played at Johnston High School at 5 p.m. The Eagles defeated Wheeler in the final game of the regular season, 13-12, in overtime.

Boys lacrosse

The Eagles are scheduled to play against Moses Brown in the Division I semifinals on Wednesday, May 30. The game will be played at Johnston High School at 7 p.m.

Barrington entered the playoffs as the number three seed while Moses Brown entered the playoffs as the number two seed.

Boys volleyball

Barrington rolled to a 3-1 victory over Johnston on Friday, May 25. The Eagles defeated the Panthers, 25-21, 25-16, 19-25, 25-23. The win followed a 3-1 loss to West Warwick and a 3-0 loss to Toll Gate. 

Barrington is 6-8 in the division.
